I installed the new Firefox 4.0.1 and all I have now is the Yahoo search bar with a gear that does nothing. I lost all my apps. How do I get them back?
I have had the same problem for nearly two weeks now. I wrote to both Yahoo and Mozilla. Firefox claims it is not their problem. Yahoo is aware and working on a fix.
In the meantime, what I did was roll back my Firefox to version 3.6.17. The Yahoo toolbar and Yahoo bookmarks still work in the older Firefox version. The workaround if you want tofirefox 4.0 keep FF 4.0 is to open the yahoo bookmarks page and use it as a "bookmark tool" until they fix it.

I have had the same problem for three weeks now. I had previously upgraded to FF 4.0 by clicking on their "Upgrade now" button. (Not a clean install - Firefox upgrade does not completely remove old Firefox program and thus the problem) I had problems with Yahoo Toolbar/Bookmarks after that.
Found an answer this morning.
Uninstafirefox 4.0ll Firefox completely. Do NOT save old preferences.
Reboot.
Reinstall Firefox from their website:
Reinstall the Yahoo Toolbar app for Firefox (your Yahoo Toolbar preferences and settings will still be there. They are tied to your Yahoo account, not the Firefox program.)

I just did this on my computer after three weeks of not having access to Bookmarks and several re-installs of Firefox 4.0. The key is NOT to save the Firefox preferences upon uninstall.
