AULD LANG SYNE
Words adapated from a traditional song
by Rabbie Burns (1759-96)
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup of kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!
And surely ye'll be your pint-stowp,
And surely I'll be mine,
And we'll tak a cup o kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!
We twa hae run about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine,
But we've wander'd monie a weary fit,
Sin auld lang syne.
We twa hae paidl'd in the burn
Frae morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin auld lang syne.
And there's a hand my trusty fiere,
And gie's a hand o thine,
And we'll tak a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang syne

I have to admit Suzie, I'm one of those who never knew all the words and I just lip sync along with the noise of New Years Eve. Works for me every time. Thanks for the words and translation. Better post words for auld lang synethis again Dec. 30.
I've never heard the whole song , it was good to see what the lyrics are - thanks again Susie.
By the time folks start to sing this there usually to shloshed to remember the words
Who knew the words,not me
Those who were making an attempt, New years eve, probably intoxicated, wouldn't remember their own name
Overrated Burns twaddle isn't for sophisticated tastes.
It's not that people forget the words. Most people never knew them in the first place!
LOL I love your choice of category....!
I have never known the words! LOL Do I have to learn them for 2009?
It's that darn chorus!
usually its new years eve and people are drunk!
Here's to Robert Burns. Drink up and have a star! Think any of today's songs will be around as long as his?
I did not forget the words, just never knew them. Thank you again Suzie.
