There is a man in our neighborhood who was recently diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. He's 43, a marathon runner and never smoked a day in his life. He has a wife and three young children. This family is probably one of the kindest families I have ever met. When my husband was in a serious car crash they sat with him (a total stranger) when I absolutely had to go to work. They babysat our children. They brought us meals. This is the kind of people they are and their kindness has touched every person in the neighborhood.
We have decided to pull together a fundraiser/benefit for them. Something to help offset the costs of the experimental treatment he is undergoing as well as something to lift their spirits some.
How I'd like to anonymously do something a little nice for them.
Some of the best moments for me have been when someone (person unknown) has done something kind and unexpected. Whether it's an anonymous note in the mailbox or whatever.
I've like to leave them little notes of encouragement every so often but I'd also like to leave little quotes or poems of strength and inspiration.
If anyone could offer some links or suggestions I'd appreciate it.
I'm posting this in the religion and spirituality section for two reasons.
1) This is a hibest life sayings quotations inspirational quotesgh traffic area so I'm hoping for several responses.
2) They are a spiritual family so quotations about finding strength in God, earth, family, within, etc. are all welcome.
Thanks for your help!
PSALM 84:11,12
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.
O Lord of hosts,
Blessed is the man who trusts in You!
PSALM 70:4,5
Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You;
And let those who love Your salvation say continually,
"Let God be magnified!"
But I am poor and needy;
Make haste to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
O Lord, do not delay.
My Advise : Don't mention death to someone who is 100% sure of surviving cancer. I lived in a Cancer Institute for about a year with a 3-year-old child who survived cancer.
'I am bigger than anything that can happen to me. All these things, sorrow, misfortune, and suffering, are outside my door. I am in the house and I have the key."
-- Charles Fletcher Lummis
For a poem, I suggest "When Nature Wants a Man" by Angela Morgan. See my second link for full poem

I wish Gbest life sayings quotations inspirational quotesod would give me wings to fly free
Unbound from Earth's chains of sin and misery.
Taking flight among the clouds, such a glorious sight
No longer running from pain or having to fight.
Leaving heartbreak on the ground along with other sorrow
Only having to look forward to the sunrise that announces tomorrow.
Death will only be a dream, tears a thing of the past
Hope will reign in my heart and love will always last.
I would never hurt someone with my selfish ways
I would live among the clouds, all of my days.
Sickness wouldn't be able to reach me sitting on a cloud
Feeling God's love run through me and laughing joyously out loud.
I lay in my hospital bed, cancer making me weak as can be
